On September 17th, Aylmer Area Community Foundation Board member, Dennis O'Neil (far left) presented a grants cheque for $10,000.00 to a grateful Port Burwell Historical Society for the restoration of the Port Burwell Lighthouse. We are excited to see this project come together for our community.

vienna swans support PBHS lighthouse restoration
We are very excited to say that some preliminary work begins on August 28th with the Engineering team arriving on September 1st. You may notice some new holes in the lighthouse when that happens - but it is testing that needs to be done to determine our plan of repair. If you drive by on the September 1st and you see people working, give them a little honk or wave to let them know that we are all happy that work is starting.
Once the physical testing is done - the samples will be analyzed and then the report will take 2 or 3 weeks to complete. We will then start to work on our plan and project costing. It has been 27 days since we have acquired the lighthouse and the work has started.
The cost of this Engineering study was funded by the Vienna Swans. We are grateful for this donation!
Thank you straffordville community committee
One of the many benefits of the PBHS assuming ownership of the Lighthouse is our ability to utilize funds raised through gaming and lottery activities. This avenue is denied to County and Municipal governments by the AGCO.
Our friends with the Straffordville Community Committee have donated $1,000 to the Lighthouse restoration.

On March 1st, Katy and Tim Wells pulled it off. After months of hard work, dedication and perseverance the "Light Up Our Winter" concert became a reality. Through a myriad of revenue streams (ticket sales, merchandize, silent auction, 50/50 draw and donations) Katy & Tim raised a total of $11,006.00 Pictured here presenting their cheque to Bill Ball - President and Roy Sullivan - Secretary/Treasurer of the Port Burwell Historical Society.
