The historic 1840 Port Burwell Lighthouse is structurally compromised and the Municipality of Bayham will not designate funding for the required restoration until their 2025 budget, if then.

The restoration and conservation of this iconic structure needs to be addressed immediately before it collapses in on itself. On February 1st, the Municipal Council finally decided to engage the Municipality's Museum Advisory Committee as part of the review process and to provide recommendations on options presented under CAO-03/24 "Port Burwell Lighthouse Status and Costing Update"

Stage One is designed to raise enough funds to allow the Municipality to proceed with the Engineering Design/Drawings required to apply for the Grants required to do the actual restoration.

The Port Burwell Historical Society is pleased to lend our support to the campaign championed by Tim Emerson and Ken Kokko, the next step in our community’s journey to save our Lighthouse.
The Port Burwell Historical Society will act as the financial arm of the campaign, responsible for handling all donations. All funds raised in support of this campaign will be held in our segregated Lighthouse Restoration account with First Ontario Credit Union until the Municipality actually commissions the design and drawings. As well, as a registered non-profit charity, the Historical Society will issue tax receipts on donations of $25.00 or more.
